SUMMARY:

Ummat International Hospital (UIH) is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Officers to support surgical consultations, pre-operative preparation, and post-operative patient care. The position involves working closely with senior physicians, nursing teams, and operating theatre staff to ensure safe, timely, and coordinated patient care.

Description

  • Assist with surgical consultations and pre-operative assessments under senior physician supervision.
  • Conduct physical examinations and verify required investigations and imaging are completed before surgery.
  • Ensure surgical instruments are properly prepared and sterilized.
  • Verify operating theatre sterilization and infection prevention standards.
  • Coordinate with the OT team regarding surgery schedules and patient transfers.
  • Confirm financial clearance and completion of required documentation before surgery.
  • Complete operation notes, post-operative orders, discharge slips, and patient records.
  • Monitor patients before and after surgery and identify complications.
  • Conduct daily rounds, change surgical dressings, monitor drains, and complete required clinical sheets.
  • Submit biopsy and culture samples to the laboratory and follow up on results.
  • Provide patients and attendants with education regarding medications and preventive health practices.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Attend staff meetings, medical conferences, training, and professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the line manager.

Requirements

  • MD Diploma or equivalent recognized medical degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in a hospital or surgical setting.
  • Knowledge of surgical care, operating theatre procedures, and post-operative management.
  • Familiarity with hospital documentation and infection control practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good spoken, reading, and writing skills in Pashto, Dari, and English.
